FAQ
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
Not at all, you can call and make an appointment at any time. Many people seek therapy and counseling in order to better understand themselves and make sense of how they feel and what they are feeling. You may have concerns about abuse, trauma, loss, illness, or a loved one with a chronic disease, loss, separation, infidelity or anxiety and depression.
How long does a session last?
A therapy session is 50 min long, this is called a “Clinical hour”, the remaining 10 minutes are to allow the therapist to write the current session note.
How many sessions will I need?
It is impossible to know ahead of time how many sessions you will need. It also depends if this is a deep seated issue, or an acute situation. Some people come for as little as 6 sessions; some come for months and even years in a process of self-discovery or to overcome abuse and trauma. The average is 12 – 20 sessions.
How often do I have to come?
The majority of clients come once a week. Some people prefer to come every two weeks. When sessions are too spread out, the process suffers.
How much does it cost?
Patzia’s rate represents the current mid-range in the GTA. Psychotherapy is less expensive than the services of psychologists, and has accurately been described as a ‘labor of love’. Patzia will happily give you the cost over the phone.

Clients agree to pay for all charges incurred for services rendered; and agree to pay the full charge for any missed or forgotten appointments without 24 hour notice of cancellation.
Do you work with MVA and WSIB clients?
Yes, MVA and WSIB clients are welcome.
Is psychotherapy covered by OHIP?
Unfortunately that psychotherapy is not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). OHIP pays for MEDICAL consults, and does not cover eyeglass, physiotherapy, audiology, or dental among others. Investing in yourself, in your growth IS the best investment!
Are you covered by insurance?
Yes, services covered by most Extended Health Plans and some Employee Assistance Programs. Victims of a crime can have services covered through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.
It is important that you mention at the time of scheduling an appointment if you wish to have it covered by a third party.
